How It Works

1. Create Your Free Account

Register with your name and practice details (AHPRA number optional), verify your email, and browse the course catalogue — filtered by topics such as cornea, glaucoma and refractive surgery.

2. Learn

Each course lists its presenter, learning objectives and allocated CPD hours. Complete any pre-reading, then watch the video presentation at your own pace.

3. Complete the Quiz

Answer a short multiple-choice quiz. Your score is shown with the correct answers and explanations — and you can retake courses at any time.

4. Receive Your Certificate Instantly

Your CPD certificate — with your name, the course, learning objectives, presenter and CPD hours — appears on screen immediately and is emailed to you as a PDF.

Built For Your CPD Record

A Permanent CPD Record

Every completed course is stored in your personal My CPD Record, with the date, hours, score and a certificate download button — so your certificates are always re-downloadable.

Verifiable Certificates

Every certificate carries a unique ID that anyone can confirm on the portal's public verification page — useful for audits and employers.

Presented By Specialists

Courses are presented by Focus Vision's corneal, cataract and refractive specialists — the team behind CAIRSPlan and the Refractive Outcomes Analyzer.

Education Is How We Say Thank You

Optometrists are our most important clinical partners. The CPD portal is our way of sharing what we see in surgery every day — so the whole eye-care team around each patient keeps getting better. It sits alongside our other free tools for the profession: the Refractive Outcomes Analyzer and CAIRSPlan.

Every course on the portal is presented personally by Focus Vision's co-founders, Dr Brendan Cronin and Dr David Gunn — surgeons who teach surgeons. Both are official CAIRS instructors with the Lions World Vision Institute, and both have presented on CAIRS in major symposiums at the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the annual ESCRS congress. Between them they have taught ophthalmic surgeons in the USA, the UK, South Africa, Denmark and Spain — Dr Cronin as an invited speaker at the National Congress of the Ophthalmological Society of South Africa, and Dr Gunn for the South African Cataract and Refractive Surgery Society. Dr Cronin is also Director of Education at the Queensland Eye Institute.

CPD Portal — Frequently Asked Questions

Who presents the CPD courses?

All course material is presented personally by Focus Vision's co-founders, Dr Brendan Cronin and Dr David Gunn. Both are official CAIRS instructors with the Lions World Vision Institute, both have presented on CAIRS at the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the annual ESCRS congress, and between them they have taught surgeons in the USA, UK, South Africa, Denmark and Spain. Who can use the Focus Vision CPD portal?

The portal is designed for optometrists. You register with your full name, email and practice name — your AHPRA registration number is optional. Account creation requires email verification.

Is the CPD portal free?

Yes. Like our Refractive Outcomes Analyzer and CAIRSPlan, the CPD portal is provided free by Focus Vision as a contribution to the eye-care community. There are no fees or subscriptions.

How do the courses work?

Each course has up to three steps: pre-reading (if the course includes it, confirmed with a tick-box), a video presentation, and a short multiple-choice quiz. Courses display their presenter, learning objectives and allocated CPD hours up front.

Do I need to pass the quiz to get my certificate?

No pass mark gates your certificate — completing the course (watching the presentation and submitting the quiz) is sufficient. Your score is recorded and shown to you with the correct answers and explanations, and you can retake a course at any time.

How do I receive and keep my CPD certificates?

Your certificate appears on screen the moment you finish — ready to screenshot — and the PDF is emailed to you immediately. It also remains permanently downloadable from the My CPD Record page whenever you log back in.

What appears on the certificate?

Your full name, the course title, the CPD hours allocated to the course, the learning objectives, the presenter, the completion date, and a unique certificate ID.

Can my employer or an auditor verify my certificate?

Yes. Every certificate carries a unique ID (for example FV-2026-A1B2C3) that anyone can check — without a login — on the portal's public certificate verification page.
