Laser Eye Surgery (LASIK/PRK/Lenticule Extraction)
Enjoy a new life of freedom from glasses and contact lenses with laser eye surgery.
About Laser Eye SurgeryFocus Vision offers every mainstream vision correction pathway — laser eye surgery, implantable lenses, lens replacement and premium cataract surgery — so our advice is about which procedure suits your eyes, not which one we happen to sell. This page compares the options side by side, with links to a detailed guide for each.
| Procedure | Typically suits | Price per eye |
|---|---|---|
| LASIK (including Ray Tracing LASIK) | Short-sightedness, long-sightedness and astigmatism with a stable prescription | From $4,250 |
| PRK & TransPRK | Similar prescriptions to LASIK, including some corneas too thin for a LASIK flap | From $3,500 |
| CLEAR / SMILE lenticule extraction | A flapless, keyhole laser alternative for short-sightedness and astigmatism | From $4,250 |
| Implantable Contact Lens (ICL) | High prescriptions, or eyes not suitable for laser surgery | From $7,000 (incl. anaesthetist) |
| Laser for Reading Glasses (Laser Blended Vision) | Reading glasses creeping in from your mid-40s, with good distance vision worth keeping | See our costs page |
| Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) | Age-related lens changes, reading glasses plus distance correction, or prescriptions beyond laser range | From $6,000 (incl. anaesthetist) |
| Premium Cataract Surgery | A clouded natural lens (cataract) — with lens choices that also reduce your need for glasses | $2,500–$5,500 (fund & lens dependent) |
All prices are all-inclusive per-eye figures from our costs page — covering pre-operative assessments, the procedure and twelve months of follow-up appointments, with 24-month interest-free payment plans available. We don't charge more for higher prescriptions.
In your 20s or 30s with a stable prescription? Corneal laser surgery is usually the starting point. LASIK, PRK/TransPRK and CLEAR all reshape the cornea to correct short-sightedness, long-sightedness and astigmatism — your corneal scans at assessment determine which of the three suits your eyes best. Prescriptions generally need to have been stable for at least a year first.
Prescription too high for laser, or corneas too thin? An Implantable Contact Lens adds a permanent corrective lens inside the eye without removing any corneal tissue — it's the usual answer for very high prescriptions.
Reaching for reading glasses in your 40s or 50s? Two paths exist: Laser Blended Vision, which fine-tunes each eye's focus so the pair covers both distance and near, and Refractive Lens Exchange, which replaces the eye's stiffening natural lens with a multifocal lens — after which a cataract can never form, because the natural lens is no longer there.
Told you have cataracts? Premium cataract surgery removes the clouded lens and, with the right lens choice, can reduce your dependence on both distance and reading glasses at the same time.
You don't have to decide this yourself. Candidacy comes down to measurements — corneal thickness and shape, prescription stability, lens clarity and overall eye health — so the practical first step is an assessment with our surgeons, who will map your eyes and recommend the pathway that fits. You can also try our quick laser suitability test online, or book an assessment directly.
